Am I eligible to pay Fitra?

Check your eligibility in 2 quick questions.

Question 1 of 2
Can you cover your basic needs on Eid day?
Enough food, clothing and shelter for yourself and all dependants on Eid al-Fitr — beyond any debts.
Question 2 of 2
Do you own wealth above the Nisab threshold?
In the Hanafi school, Fitra is only obligatory if you own wealth equal to or more than Nisab (~612g silver) above your basic needs and debts.

You are likely exempt
If you cannot cover your household's basic needs on Eid day, Fitra is not obligatory. The poor receive Fitra — they do not pay it.
💡If your situation improves, voluntary charity (Sadaqah) is always rewarded.
Yes — Fitra is obligatory for you
You meet the conditions according to your school. Use the calculator below to find the exact amount for you and your family.
💡Pay before the Eid prayer. You may give 1–2 days early.
📖
Not obligatory in the Hanafi view
The Hanafi school requires Nisab-level wealth for Fitra to be obligatory. Since your wealth is below Nisab, Fitra is not obligatory — though giving voluntarily is praiseworthy.
💡The Shafi'i, Maliki, and Hanbali schools apply a lower threshold (just having surplus for Eid day). Consult your local imam.

How it works

Three simple inputs. A precise result based on scholarly rulings.

01
Select your country
We use local staple food prices — rice, wheat, or barley — to give you an amount in your local currency.
02
Choose your madhab
Each of the four Sunni schools has slightly different rulings on the weight of one Sa'. Select the one you follow.
03
Add household members
The head of household pays for everyone under their care — adults, children, and other dependents.
04
Pay before Eid prayer
Give the calculated amount to the poor before the Eid al-Fitr prayer. Your local mosque can help distribute it.
